I am a Mental Health Warrior as well!

I have recovered from the worst of my illness, but still struggle with anxiety and a mood disorder. I have taken courses through Alberta Mental Health to learn how to support others who struggle with different types of mental illness. Has anyone heard of Wrap? The Wellness Recovery Action Plan. Created by Mary Ellen Copeland PHD. It helps people like myself that are well enough to take back control of their lives through guidance of peers that are trained as Wrap Facilitators. As they create their own crisis plan that will help support them through their crisis. To give you an idea of what this plan includes are ways to relax, self soothe, a list of their supporters that doesn’t always need to include family etcetera. As a facilitator it is a requirement that we aIl have our own wrap plan as well.

And I have also created my own business (Revitalized!) that also supports people struggling with mental illness. It is a holistic colour image consultant service. That focuses on the inside and outside of the individual. Beginning within and supporting them to create their own personalized wardrobes and gradual makeover.

I Hope this helps those of you who are on a simliar journey! 😀

The movie Helen (2009) starring Ashley Judd is also a very eye-opening movie about mental illness
